Built on craft. Named for a journey.

Bonaventure means "good journey" in Latin. It's also where John and his wife Corin met at Saint Bonaventure University.

Today, with three daughters and two decades behind us, they've built something of their own: a family business grounded in the belief that the work you leave behind should be worth pointing to.

The flatwork Bona Concrete pours becomes part of people's everyday lives. The driveway you pull into after a long day. The patio where your family and friends gather. The walkway your kids grow up running down. It's what makes the work matter.

Meet the Owner

John "Johnny" Scharlock is a concrete flatwork contractor based in East Aurora, NY with 15 years of hands-on experience. He's formed, poured, and finished hundreds of driveways, patios, slabs, and pool decks across Erie County and Western New York. He's the one who will walk your property, write your estimate, and be on site the day of your pour.

He doesn't just manage crews. He trains them. Every person on a Bona Concrete job site is taught to work the way Johnny works: careful, clean, and accountable.

What We Believe

We build craftsmen, not just crews.

Every Bona crew member is trained to the same standard Johnny holds himself to. That means consistency on every project. Not just when the owner happens to be watching.

Your property is our responsibility.

We protect your landscaping, keep the work area organized, and clean up completely before we leave. Professionalism isn't just about the pour.

Clear communication. No surprises.

You'll know what's happening, when, and why. If something changes, we discuss it before we proceed.

If something goes wrong, we answer for it.

Concrete work involves variables — weather, site conditions, material behavior over time. If an issue comes up after a project is complete, we work it out. We don't disappear after the final invoice.

Let's talk about your project.
